We think they will help you too, even if you are not in the funk and you just want a great read!
For someone who talks a lot about self-care, I am always wary of books on self-care from new/emerging authors because a lot of works simply repeat tumblr posts. However, this one spoke to me in a way that broke down the honest practice of self-care. I have read the book front to cover three times, at different points of my practice of self-awareness, and this book still rings true and helps to clarify some gray areas of self-care and self-awareness. Plus, Wajeed’s style of writing is just beautiful.
Simply put: this collection of short stories is for the revolutionary femmes who truly do not care about your norms. These women know that they are THE Ones for themselves and they are willing to live in their truth. As always, Roxanne delivers the stories in a matter-of-fact way which some people might find sad but that is some people’s reality.
This is a very common book that definitely lives up to the hype. As the author suggests, you should not read this book all at once. It’s more of a practical book. You read a chapter, apply it to your daily life, analyze the results, and continue. It should be added to one of our textbooks for the vicissitudes of life
A good amount of us were born with a naturally charitable disposition but as we get older, we are surrounded by the notion that there has to be something negative or beneath the surface of kind acts (either towards yourself or towards others), besides simply connecting with someone and offering to help. On Kindness is a short read, that delves into the psychology behind the general notion around kindness and how to remain kind to ourselves and to others.
